Protect What Matters Most: August is Make-A-Will-Month

Planning Ahead to Protect What Matters Most

Hand holding a poster What is your legacy.Every August, National Make-A-Will Month reminds us that creating or updating a will or trust is one of the most powerful ways we can care for the people and causes we hold dear. At WINGS, we know how life-changing support can be—especially for survivors taking the brave first step toward healing. That is why we are proud to offer a free tool to help you take control of your future and build a legacy of compassion.

Beyond will making, there are additional, simple ways to leave a meaningful legacy. Designating WINGS as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, IRA, 401(k), or other non-probate assets can make a lasting difference, without requiring you to rewrite your will or update your trust. It is quick, impactful, and something you can do entirely online using FreeWill’s Beneficiaries tool.

Supporting WINGS using my life insurance policy was a simple, easy process. I’m grateful it was an option. I could always donate my time and experience to the program but couldn’t financially support WINGS as much as I wanted. Donating this way, I have peace of mind knowing I did the right thing.”  — Emlen, Former WINGS Board Member

Question words What are your future plans?

You can also document your wishes with this simple Gift Intent Form, which lets us know if you’ve included WINGS in your plans and how you’d like your gift to be used, whether it’s shelter, support services, or another area of impact.

FreeWill’s secure platform also gives you the option to write a legal will or trust, at no cost to you. In just 20 minutes, you can use your legacy for good, just like Vinay and Colleen:

“By including WINGS in our will through the very simple FreeWill program, we hope to ensure future generations continue to have access to shelter, support, and the chance for a new beginning.”  — Vinay and Colleen Kodavatiganti, WINGS Donors

Thank you for believing in a world where everyone deserves a safe place to heal and rebuild. Your legacy matters, and we are honored to be part of it.
